Smith's Grove

Cold snap on Monday.
Peace, and health pervade our community.
Protracted meeting commences on tomorrow (Sunday) at the Presbyterian Church.
Nathaniel Strange, son of Robert Strange, dec'd, fell, dislocated and fractured his arm a few days ago.
Tommy Ewing, son of Dr. G.T. Ewing, fell last Sunday and fractured his arm.
Rev. J.H. Smith has moved in his new house.
Several of our citizens moving out of town. Mr. Samuel Totty moved south of the railroad in the barrens - also Mr. Gasper Butram.
Dr. E.M. Hatcher, of Cave City was in town Monday.
Forwarded from this station the year 1879-309 loaded cars, out of which151 loaded with live stock. Received 172 cars of merchandise. This speaks well for Smith's Grove as a shipping point.
Messrs. Kirby and Dillingham have handled about 300 head of mules and have a fine lot on hand at present.
Mr. Mansfield Kirby is dealing in mules and fine horses. He has a lot on hand at present.
Rev. W.H. Williams who recently resigned his pastorate of the Baptist church here, is now at Glasgow, where he has located as pastor of the congregation. In this instance the gain of Glasgow is the loss of Smith's Grove. Bro. Williams is not only an excellent preacher, but a genial, sociable gentleman. We wish him happiness in his new field of duty.
On Thursday, the 15th at the residence of the brides, father, Mr. Frank Wright, Mr. John Alexander was married to the beloved and admired Miss Anna Wright. The minister clothed with all the dignity, performed in a solemn manner the beautiful ceremony which linked their destinies forever. To them may the path of life be strewn with flowers of the richest hue and rarest odors. May he succeed in making happy the woman he has crowned queen of his hear, and she be to him all that a christian should be to the one who lays his trophies at her feet, and when their life work is done may they receive an abundant entrance into the beauteous Paradise of God, where the spirit may refresh itself upon the tree of life, drink deep draughts from the river of unfailing sources, breathe zephyrs, wafted from across amaranthian oases and list the living melodies rolling from lute and harp.
